5 Latest Design Trends that will Make a Big Splash in 2021
I adore the gray color trend since I have always leaned more toward blacks and grays than browns. I must say, though, that I am glad to see brown emerge back on the scene. Some of my clients don't care for gray and yet they want their space to look current. Brown is a good option for those who are not into the more muted gray tones.
I look for recycled and environmentally friendly products in my designs , so I’m excited to see this trend becoming a mainstay in order for there to be even more creative options in this arena as time passes.
Black and white as well as blue and white palettes are more popular than ever and also tend to feel timeless. You can't go wrong with either one.
With all of that in mind, I want to share five upcoming interior design trends that are predicted to be a big hit in 2021...from drapery to design to decor, and more, there is something for everyone in this blog post.
1. Vibrant New Color Combos
Navy blue paired with light neutrals will be making a big splash in 2021. Warm hues will become prevalent as well. I also see emerald green showing up everywhere (like the above living room).
It is easy to work one of these new color palettes into your home with accessories and throw pillows.
2. Sustainability Throughout the Home
As mentioned previously, the trend toward sustainability will never go away. In fact, there will be more and more creative things recycled or repurposed. In addition, light woods will become more popular and natural elements, such as wood, are appearing in light fixtures.
One simple way to incorporate sustainability is by using wood flooring in your home. It lasts much longer than carpet and can even be re-finished if color trends change.
3. Warm & Cozy Aesthetics
Texans have always been drawn to warm, cozy, and rustic aesthetics. I guess due to our rugged landscapes and pioneering people. Plus, we love kids and dogs. Rustic finishes hold up great to both of these.
Add in a reclaimed coffee table or barnwood floor if you want to work this trend into your home.
4. Bolder is Better
I see Mid-Century Modern and Art Deco elements showing up everywhere. These styles both make a bold design statement. Wallpaper that was once subtle is showing up with bold patterns and colors in a big way.
If you want to dip a toe into the world of bold, a powder bathroom is a great way to express yourself. These small spaces can take it and they will become a conversation piece in the process.
5. Layered, Versatile Windows
We are getting fewer calls for hard window coverings and increasingly getting calls for operable drapery and even layered double drapery treatments. There is nothing better for light control and for opening up the view if you have plenty of stack space.
I have always been a drapery girl and so am thrilled to see drapery actually trending.
