Turn Your Main Suite Into a Luxury Escape

You know that feeling you get when you finally drop your suitcase on the plush carpet of a gorgeous hotel suite? Ahh. When that wave of ease washes over you and you wonder why you've waited so long to take your vacation, remember something: You could create the same experience in the main bedroom suite of your own home.

Instead of needing a trip or some other excuse to "get out of the house," you might just want to come home more often, lounge a little longer on weekends, or stretch those far-too-sparse afternoon naps. Why? Because coming home can feel like stepping into your very own resort, with spaces thoughtfully designed to exude elegance and the comfort of classy interiors, creating the essence of pure "vacation" style relaxation.

Get a bed makeover

The first step in transforming your main suite from sufficient to superb is to address the place you spend most of your time: The bed. We recommend starting with sheets that feel as soft or as crisp as your favorite luxury hotel. Don't obsess over thread counts; just pick what feels right. As soft furnishing professionals, we can certainly make recommendations.

Once you've found the perfect sheets, move to the remaining bed linens. Do you want a triple-layered effect, as many resorts tend to use? Do you need more accent pillows that can also function as a way to sit comfortably while reading? What about an upholstered headboard? Linens, pillows, and headboards go a long way in adding the layers of texture that your favorite high-end luxury interior design projects are known and loved for providing.

Go minimal & luxe

While clutter is an obvious faux pas in luxury spaces, overcrowding the walls with artwork or the surfaces with accessories can also weary the eyes and weigh on the mind. Calming artwork that depicts nature or a specific mood is a must. A figurine, a lamp, and a tray for accouterments on the bedside tables are a must. An area rug flowing from under the bed, adding texture and warmth, is essential.

If your style leans toward contemporary design, focus on clean lines, neutral tones, and carefully curated accents that enhance the spaciousness and tranquility of your main suite. A minimalist approach will make your space feel timeless and effortlessly elegant.

Avoid creating gallery walls or lining shelves with souvenirs. Show off your tastefully minimal wallscapes by adding textured or patterned wallpaper. Keep things classy and modern by focusing on a few curated pieces instead of overloading the space with decoration.

Long drapery panels

Roman shades, valances, and swags all have their place, but perhaps not in your resort-style suite. Opt for floor-to-ceiling layers of drapery panels, both sheer and blackout, for maximum privacy and light control. As soft furnishing experts, we can recommend various styles, patterns, fabrics, and hardware combinations to make your window treatments stay in-style for decades without forsaking function.

Incorporating elements of modern design into your drapery and window treatments ensures a fresh, polished look that harmonizes with your serene bedroom retreat.
