Interior design trends
Interior design is a dynamic field with certain trends fading from the scene annually, or even seasonally. Today, I am taking a look at the design elements that are phasing out of use from 2024 while looking forward to some beautiful trends in 2025. Interior decoration is also shifting toward a more intentional and personalized approach.
Enjoy — and let me know if you'd like to see some of these outdated trends in your home updated for the long term.
Farewell to these 2024 trends
Open floor plans: We are loving the idea of designated spaces for privacy and better acoustics.
Accent walls: Why only paint one wall when you can paint the whole room? Accent walls are out and color drenching is in.
White, beige, and grey tones: Neutral tones have been so overdone, dominating our walls, home interiors, and floors.
Mid-century modern lines: Sharp edges and rectangles are hardly warm and welcoming.
Hello to these 2025 trends
Wellness spaces: From tiny yoga studios to luxurious bathrooms, personal wellness is taking priority in home design.
Vintage & retro influences: Bold and eclectic retro styles infuse personality and individuality into a space.
Rich, earthy tones: In stark contrast with the white and grey trends of the past, earthy tones impart a sense of warmth and tranquility.
Artisanal and handcrafted pieces: With an increasing appreciation for craftsmanship, one-of-a-kind pieces are growing in popularity. They add character and create a focal point in any room.
Up for debate
Depending on where you get your design information, you might hear that minimalism is on its way out and maximalism is bursting into the design realm with bold colors and intricate patterns.
However, other designers believe minimalism is here to stay. With its clean lines and pared-back palette creating a warmer, more relaxing environment.
My opinion (so glad you asked) is that certain trends are timeless in certain situations. If you need a more toned-down color palette, straight lines, and smooth textures to love the home you live in, go for it.
Don't "do it" or "not do it" because it's a trend. Do it because you want it. (I'll help you figure out the details of this. Just hit "reply" to get started.)
